helping our friends

smile

As we grow as a company, it’s very important to us that we give something back to benefit both kids in our local community and further afield. We regularly donate our products to a local charity, Feed the Children (www.feedthechildren.org.uk), who send them out to children in need around the world.

Most recently, our donations of ‘The Crumbly One’ and pouches of baby food have been sent to the Rajanpur District of Pakistan to help following the flood disaster.

We passionately believe that all children should be given an equal opportunity to live a healthy and active lifestyle and to maximise their potential. So, we’re very excited that we have also now launched two of our own projects where we can help to do just that!

Ella’s Explorers on the farm

We think that it’s important for little ones to use all their senses to discover the wonderful world around them. And what better place for children to learn about where food comes from and really explore their senses than on the farm?

So, we are taking young children from families who struggle to afford such trips out to a farm, or market garden, for a day of discovery and smiles as they experience the sights, sounds and smells of the countryside, get to know the animals and taste some scrummy fresh food. Learning has never been so much fun and all the children get to take home an Ella’s goody bag and, of course, lots of treasured memories of a fun day.

Children who have been on trips so far have really benefited. Four year old Amber told us that the lambs felt “rough but warm and very strokey” and five year old Joe enjoyed tasting some black beans which he said looked like “ a black, wriggly worm and taste very crunchy”.

Spreading smiles at Kasisi

Ella's Dad grew up in Zambia and wanted to give something back to the country where he spent a very happy childhood. So, we are working with Kasisi Children’s home (www.kasisichildren.org) just outside Lusaka to build some new rooms, and provide extra facilities, for the 250 orphaned children who live there.

We are already enjoying the big smiles on their little faces as the children tuck into our yummy baby foods which we have sent out to them along with seeds for their organic garden, printer cartridges, medicines, essential bedding and clothing and other stuff for the little ones to enjoy.

We are now embarking on a bigger project helping fund the building of a new pre-school at Kasisi where the 2-7 year olds can go each day to play and learn. There will be two brand new classrooms/play areas kitted out with lots of fun and interactive play equipment and learning materials. As well as the pre-school, we are also helping with the extension of the veranda at the House of Hope to create an enclosed outdoor room for the babies with patio doors leading onto a garden area. This will improve the lives of the babies tremendously creating an area where they can play nicely protected from the rains and any cold weather.
