Portfolio Manager (Makes Friendly Stuff)

Location: Near Henley-on-Thames – you’ll be able to work flexibly between home and our lovely Barns

Reports to: Group Portfolio Manager (Senior Makes Friendly Stuff)


Purpose of Role

Take ownership of a segment of the portfolio with best-in-class range management. Ensuring that our products continue to meet the needs of parents & carers in our UK & ATW markets.

Role activities / responsibilities:

Portfolio Management:

Understand the portfolio dynamics and shape a 3-year EPD/NPD strategy.

  • Use category and shopper data to understand Ella’s and competitor portfolio dynamics and make informed recommendations to enhance the portfolio’s performance.
  • Monitor commercial and performance metrics across the portfolio and convert findings into actions, such as delist proposals to maintain portfolio relevance and efficiency.
  • Stay closely connected to consumer insights by monitoring research, feedback, and behavioural trends, and translate those insights into actionable recommendations that strengthen portfolio decision making.

EPD + NPD project Delivery:

Manage and support on EPD + NPD projects for the UK + Around the World as required by:

  • Specific ownership of projects that fit into sub-segment of the portfolio
  • Creating compelling propositions for products and packs that deliver against our Business Strategy and Masterplans and are routed in insight
  • Championing our consumers by keeping them front of mind – be Kids First always!
  • Working with the innovation team to create compelling and commercially viable ‘8P’ briefs.
  • Owning the delivery of stand-out packaging (design + pack format) for your projects through the gate process.
  • Owning on-pack messaging and claims ensuring they meet our claims guidelines and are relevant and motivating for Parents + Carers

Ready to sell delivery:

Setting our innovation up for success by:

  • Work with the Group Portfolio Manager to develop inspiring sell-in stories for our retail partners, giving our product ranges the best chance of success.
  • Maintain portfolio playbook and deliver NPD handover sessions to Customer Experience, Comms, GSWD and Shopper Teams.
  • Develop and deliver performance reports which pull together consumer, category, commercial and operational data to ensure we correctly evaluate the success of a launch and maintain focus on the SKUs.

Other Stuff

  • Own and maintain all Portfolio Induction materials for both internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Champion the assessment of portfolio performance across internal and external sources, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities to share with the wider portfolio team
  • Be an active member of the wider Friends team by collaborating and contributing your passion and ideas.
  • Support the wider friends team activities as required (e.g. monthly team meetings).

You will need:

  • To embrace, embody and exude all that is special and unique about Ella’s Kitchen
  • Product Management experience within FMCG
  • Great organisational skills and attention to detail. Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once.
  • Experience of using data and insights to guide product development
  • Have a creative and imaginative approach to innovation, product development and problem solving
  • Excellent influencing skills – the ability to persuade stakeholders of the commercial, consumer and brand value of a product proposition.
  • A real passionate team player with the ability to work cross-functionally and with our friends outside of Ella’s

Assistant Brand Manager (Friends Team)

Purpose of role:

Support portfolio managers with best-in-class range management. Ensuring that our products continue to meet the needs of parents & carers in our UK & ATW markets.

Role activities / responsibilities:

EPD + NPD project Delivery:

Support on EPD + NPD projects for the UK + Around the World as required by:

  • Manage end‑to‑end artwork execution and repro after concept sign‑off, ensuring packaging is compelling, accurate, and compliant across all projects.
  • Ensure your packaging projects come in on time + on budget.
  • Support portfolio managers in continuously scanning for inspiration, trends, and opportunities to drive future innovation
  • Support portfolio manager on projects from ideation through to launch, championing them through the internal development process
  • Championing our consumers by keeping them front of mind – be Kids First always!

Ready to sell delivery:

Setting our innovation up for success by:

  • Working with key partners + internal teams to ensure 3D + optimised images are within brand guidelines and readily available for retailers + distributors. Ensure product information is correct on retail channels.
  • Championing the voice of the consumer throughout the Barns, organising inspiring launch parties and tastings for colleagues in the barns.
  • Support the portfolio managers and deals (sales) team in Retailer sell-in sessions

Communications

  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Communications team, including copywriting, creative execution and assistance across campaigns and digital channels.

Other Stuff

  • Be an active member of the wider Friends team by collaborating and contributing your passion and ideas.
  • Support the wider friends team activities as required (e.g. monthly team meetings).

You will need:
